The discovery and reverse engineering of lost Divine technologies has massively increased our offensive power. 

We are still outclassed in most one on one interactions (not including the limited energy stores from The Brother), but we are no longer reliant on Heroes to do our work for us.

Angelic pilots are of course preferred, but in a pinch the very heavily wounded can be made small enough to fit into the chest cavities and can continue to help the effort in that way.
