What is an acceptable loss of life to preventable incidents? You may say "zero", but you'd be lying. Every day we lose a certain number of people in our society, and everyone goes on as usual. Magica incidents, Gas leaks, sword wounds, a runaway mechanized animal... we attempt to reduce these fatalities, but we can only do so much.

The same thing applies to an EVEN GREATER DEGREE to events that are beyond our ability to influence. If a person goes too close to a demon gate? That was their decision. We should not send a rescue party, lest we lose more. The snow queens lands expand? Unfortunate, but she is still located deep  in the Interior, and so it hardly effects us. Even a monster rampage, as awful as that is, is sometimes something we must simply accept.

As humanity expands again, it is time to stop being so "precious" about individuals. We can afford, finally afford, to let some people die, and accept that as part of living.
