It is amazing what can become "normal".
Although the records are muddled, we understand that humans existed for almost all of history without electricity, without flight, and without magic.
There are numerous other changes that, by all accounts, humanity should have been forever in awe of.
But instead, in every case, humanity simply becomes used to the change. It does not even take a generation, and humans acclimate totally.
I am sure that when the Black Towers disgorged their occupants hundreds of years ago they must have been overwhelmed and completely lost. But they were foundational in reestablishing a working society.
I wonder what new wonders and horrors will we come to confront, and then get used to, and even become bored of, in our lifetime.
It is an exciting, and exhausting, prospect.
