In the dream, I now think of it as a dream, I was working at my cubicle. I was a graphic designer for a small company, and I needed to fix the kerning on the ad that was going to run in the New York City subway...

I kept adjusting the distance between the letters. Again and again. Occasionally I would get up and go warm up my coffee in a small white microwave.

The coffee never ran out, the letters were never quite right, and over a very very long time the dream began to... come apart.

The computer I had, a very plain beige one, kept getting slightly bigger, every time I went to reheat my coffee. That made me nervous, so I put off reheating my coffee. But the coffee was getting too cold, and ice crystals were forming in it. I knew if it ever froze solid I would be unable to keep working.

The distance to the microwave also kept getting a little longer. I started to run the distance, afraid of taking too long. Afraid of not being able to find my way back to my computer.

I never got to find out, because the dream abruptly shattered. I was thrust into a far worse reality.
